Datum - Data Newsletter

Welcome to the fourth issue of DATA our e-newsletter, which I hope you continue to find both interesting and informative.

The focus for this newsletter is the completion of Marie-Chantal’s stunning flagship store, in London's Sloane Street, which we feel takes children’s niche retailing to another level. We worked closely with London-based interior designers, Bentheim, and we are delighted with their extremely generous comments on the level of service that we provided.

To boost our new business activity we recently welcomed Nick Peate to the team (npeate@datum-international.co.uk). As business development manager many of you will be meeting him in the coming months and as someone who has much experience of the industry I know he will make a significant contribution to the service the we pride ourselves on.

As always, I very much look forward to your feedback on this newsletter and on any aspects of our service.

NEW FLAGSHIP STORE FOR INTERNATIONAL CHILDRENSWEAR BRAND

Marie-Chantal, an established international luxury childrenswear retailer, commissioned London-based interior designers, Bentheim, to create their flagship store in London.

Having analysed Marie-Chantal’s existing stores Bentheim gained a clear understanding of the core brand values and as a result have created a welcoming space that suits both adults and children. The store was divided into defined sections for gender and age groups, as well as breaking the long and narrow retail space down into several areas of interests.

Bentheim worked closely with Datum the shopfitters, whose care and attention to every detail resulted in the manufacture and installation of the individually designed display units. The white washed American oak units were also specifically designed to be appropriate for each age group and function.

Towards the front of the store, comprising loose furniture pieces displaying ranges for new born and baby age groups, Bentheim's attention to detail evokes the intimacy of a nursery. This draws the customer towards the centre of the store, which has a feature full height shoe display wall, an oversized display table and opposite an illuminated back wall display unit adds drama to the space. The raised area to the rear of the store is devoted to boys' clothing ranges and changing facilities.

Bentheim created an inviting entrance area showing glimpses of the brand by designing a ‘brand wall’ behind the dramatically lit cash-and-wrap desk. The large golden Marie-Chantal logo appears to float off the brand’s blue coloured wall, which gives customers a real sense of connection with the brand.

Commenting on this project, Bentheim's creative director, Darryl Amos said:
"Working with Datum has been a pleasure from start to finish. I find their level of service exceptional. We have now worked together on a number of high end projects and they have been professional throughout the design and construction process. The level of finish they achieve is unmatched, which within the higher end of retailing is critical. There is always a dedicated approach to each project and, importantly, a universal ethos where by each project is finished on time and within the stated budget. I cannot recommend Datum enough and always look forward to working with them."
