Welcome to the third issue of DATA our e-newsletter, which I hope you continue to find both interesting and informative.

This issue we’re off to auction as we celebrate the completion of Christie’s South Kensington showrooms and the imminent completion of their King Street office. We’ve also just completed the new store on Sloane Street for upmarket children’s retailer, Marie Chantal, which we will include in future issues, as will our recent appointment by the Royal College of Music. As always, I very much look forward to your feedback on this newsletter and on any aspects of our service.

Going, Going, Gone!

After successfully winning the tender, Datum were engaged by the client to undertake a quality Art Gallery style refurbishment of the Christie’s South Kensington Auction House. The project, which incorporated seven primary works phases based around individual galleries and a multitude of enabling works and pre and post phase works packages, was undertaken over a 3 year period commencing in 2005 with the last phase completed at the end of 2007.



The works were structured around the clients auction calendar, and required the remainder of the Auction House to be kept operational. As such the works were complex with requirements on maintaining mechanical and electrical services, noise and access restrictions, delivery restrictions and uncompromising completion dates.

Commenting on Datum's appointment, Steven Southall an associate at SHH said: "Datum brought a proactive and committed ethic to the works, which allowed each work phase to be constructed within the programme and site restrictions. Their in-house manufacturing of the display systems allowed quality control and programming to be carried out in a timely manner, this was essential as the works required substantial co-ordination with a variety of client direct sub contractors. In addition to which continuity of both site and office based personnel ensured that lessons learned from the initial phases were adopted and incorporated into the latter phases, making the jobs of the consultant team progressively easier as the project unfolded.”

Following the successful completion of the South Kensington scheme, Datum was delighted to have been appointed by Christie’s to complete the major refurbishment of their King Street offices in central London.

Projects round-up

Other recent projects include a new concession in Harrods for Greek childrenswear brand, Marie Chantal, which was completed recently, and our recent appointment by Christie’s to refurbish their first floor viewing and sales room in King Street. We have also recently completed the fit-out of Monsoon, Cirencester, one of their newest stores.
